I know! Gotta go scope them out. When I was in Dublin last year I found a couple and got a few Irish specific reads. I want to know what’s happening there too!

I loved this and really thought the Read My Lips placard (for lack of better word) was so cute. I founded an independent bookstore in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, before anyone knew the pueblo existed. It was a labor of love, second, and first, a NEED to have books to read in a country w/ very few bookshops. Alma Libre Libros. When we first moved to MX there were almost zero bookshops. New and used was the way to go, w/ buy, sell, trade options. Perfect in a country where few had extra cash for books. We eventually sold, wanting to re-retire ): but it lives on, I am happy to say. In those early days I described it as more than a hobby, not quite a business. I'm happy to say w/ the town's growth it's doing very well. And certainly gave me a zillion stories to tell.

Oh my gosh that’s so amazing Jeanine!! Thank you for your bookish services to the community. I’d love to hear those stories. I have a pipe dream of working in a bookstore one day; a friend and I were talking about having it be trilingual with English, Spanish and French literature. Fairly unrealistic in a US market, but we can still dream!

I loved it. So much fun. And since Puerto Morelos has so many expats and international travelers, we had books in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German. Something for everyone. I’m currently condensing-serializing on my stack from my travel memoir, Where the Sky is Born. I’m a newbie so posted 3 only of memoir to date beginning with buying land (and that debacle), building a house and opening our bookstore. Please tune in sometime. The bookstore is towards the middle. Yes, I think every reader’s dream is to work in or own a bookshop. I intersperse my posts with MX news, artists, history, food. Take care!!
