A brief (and late) post today because I’ve been fighting off a migraine for the last 72 hours. Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with the debate! Just a fun combination of seasonal changes, pressure drops, and a few diseases with headaches as a symptom.
First of all, thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes!
Second of all, since I don’t have much to offer you today, here’s a preview of what I have planned for the next few weeks, à la an intense HBO TV trailer.
In the weeks to come…
The Spellshop, a review of cozy fantasy and its limitations
The best books on productivity
A mug appreciation post
With that, I’m going to return to my cool, dark room. Good thing that my job doesn’t involve staring at screens for hours a day! #sarcasm. Thanks for your patience and I’ll be back in full next week.
No New Books™️ Challenge
I am still holding strong. That’s about to break on Saturday because I’m going up to Boston to get my haircut and then going on a tour of new bookshops with friends. If you’re wondering why I drive an hour away to get my haircut, the reason is my hairdresser is also named Marisa, and she’s been doing my hair since I was 20 and I have unintentionally followed this woman around for the past 10 years so why stop now? (Both she and I moved to Rhode Island at the same time lol.) She and I have this fun bit where when we see each other we say, “Hi Marissa!” “Hi Marisa!” and “Bye Marissa!” “Bye Marisa!” and fully freak out everyone else in the salon. It’s fantastic.
Anyways. No New Books.

Mug Moment of the Week
Here she is folks, the MUG OF SHAME.
It really is a shame because this mug is so pretty and I got it from a small arts store in Davis Square in Somerville.1 I’m really not sure what happened, since the mug made it home unscathed, and I used it once with boiling water for tea and it was fine.
But the second time I tried to use it, I heard a pop and then the water just started to seep all over my desk. Truly devastating. Please enjoy the video below so you can see all of the beautiful colors. My cinematography is unparalleled.
That’s all for me folks, see you next Tuesday with actual bookish content.
It’s Magpie, for the locals.
