Oh hi! Bet you didn’t expect to see me today. Yes, going forward you can expect to see me in your inbox on Friday’s, too. This will be a quick update - except once a month I’ll be featuring interviews from working artists on how they make their lives, well, work!
First up, my lovely friend Sam. She’s a music teacher and performer with decades of experience, and I’m so glad I can feature her. Our conversation will hit your inboxes next Friday!
Also, I was featured in Write or Die this week, the platform where I’ll be teaching my worldbuilding course later this month. Link is here, and here’s a little preview.
Ok, enough self promotion. Outside of the monthly interviews, these Friday missives will be short. I’ll feature what I’m reading, writing, and listening to. And maybe one or two of my favorite prompts that I use in class if you want to get creative on your own.
Without further ado:
What I’m reading:
The Sparrow, by Mary Doria Russell. Easiest way to describe this? Jesuits in space.
I have been on and off reading this book since June, and need to finish it. Congrats, you’ve now become my accountability buddies to shame me into finishing.
What I’m writing:
Other than avoiding my novel? I’m working on a piece I want to submit to the Modern Love NYTimes column. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
What I’m listening to:
Katchi, by Ofenbach vs. Nick Waterhouse. As sourced from this video. You’re welcome.
To end, I have a massive mug collection. It is the only thing I truly collect.1 So here’s your Mug Moment of the Week, featuring Twinings Lemon & Ginger tea and a London themed mug from Anthropologie.
And that’s it! See you on Tuesday for more book musings.
Books don’t count.
