Hello and Happy Friday! This is my last ‘weekly’ Weekly Roundup before I switch to an every other week cadence. I may change up some of my bullet points, who knows? I am the Chaotic Reader, after all. What would life be without a little experimentation.
Ahead, what got me through the week.
What I’m reading:
I have been reading this book since April. It is massive. Why is it so big? Why is it so long? Why am I 300 pages in and still have 300 pages more? Why is there next to no plot? Do I have answers to any of these questions? No. Does it matter? Also no - I’m going to finish it anyways.
Great for: ACOTAR fans
Bad for: Literally anyone else
What I’m writing:
Lists. So many lists. I organize by writing lists and so therefore I am writing lists.
Lists of what, you ask? Lists for my book, lists of books, lists of things to donate, lists of things to throw out, lists of things I need to do any and every single day.
Great for: how my brain functions
Bad for: my novel, screaming somewhere in the background
What I’m listening to:
Like everyone else, I have been listening to Chappell Roan. This one got stuck in my head the other day and I listened to it 16 times in a row. Not an exaggeration.
Great for: people who want to be up on the latest big music thing (and good music in general)
Bad for: anyone who doesn’t know what’s going on
No New Books™️ Challenge:
Listen, listen. I had to buy a book for an upcoming baby shower, and crimes were committed against my bank account.1 One day I will start taking this challenge seriously again, but today is not that day.
This is the book I bought for my friend’s new baby girl. It’s definitely in vogue to bring books instead of cards at baby showers - which is fine with me! Happy to help create little bookworms the world over. But, I tend to get more complex books. Why? you might ask. The child in question won’t be reading it any time soon. No, they won’t, but their parents will and will have to read the book approximately 85 times, so I try to get books that the parents will enjoy as well. Look at the pretty artwork! And fairy tales from around the world? I even want to read this book now.
Streak to Beat: 50 days (January 1st - February 19th)
Last streak: 17 days (June 11th-June 27th)
Current streak: 1 day (June 28th)
Mug Moment of the Week:
Today, we have the second mug I received as a Christmas present. I got one that’s a color change Llama mug from my family’s Cousin Christmas gathering, and this Dalmatian mug I got from my brother and his partner.
I will once again remind you that I adore Dalmatians and that they are perfect and I will hear no slander otherwise. There’s a full dog on the other side of the mug, but I did not get a chance to snap a photo of that last night because I was too preoccupied with freezing two Gray Ooze Monsters.
You see, this mug was brought out for one of my DnD groups.2 This one is called Rage Against the Ravines, and I play a human former circus performer who is very bendy and good at calligraphy. Sometimes life does imitate art. Today’s title is in reference to the fact that my character seems to rapidly descending into villainy because she cannot stand having to deal with others’s incompetence. And rats.
May you all have lovely weekends, and happy holiday weeks next week, for those in the US and Canada that I know of. May the rest of you have upcoming state holidays soon!
I once again regret nothing.
Which is short for Dungeons and Dragons which I apparently play a lot of now.
You just make me laugh every time 🫶🏻
I love everything about this post. The absolute all. Thank you for continuing to send me notifications 🤩
