Thanks for all the kind words after my post last week. It means a lot. I’ve been on the new meds for a week and I think I’m feeling better? I am feeling more tired, which I think is my brain’s way of saying 'Oh thank god she’s paying attention now, we can relax.’ It’s probably all psychosomatic, but you know what? That’s good enough for me.
Anyways, since I’m working at diminished capacity, this will be a quick post. The feast day of my patron saint (independent bookstores) was Saturday (Independent Bookstore Day). I won’t harp on avoiding Amazon for buying books. I’m not even that against Barnes and Noble - that was the local bookstore near my childhood home. But the fact that both of them decided to have a book sale right before Independent BookStore day? Big rude and a pox on their houses.
I was in Boston pet sitting, so my shrine du jour was Brookline Booksmith in, well, Brookline. I chose to go there partly because it’s right next door to where I get my facials, and partly because they have a small (but mighty) French book section, and I am not paying those shipping costs, especially with tariffs looming. Please enjoy my spoils.1
Oh the pet in question? Tiny Dog. She is perfect.
I’ve written about Tiny Dog previously, if you want to hear my thoughts on how petsitting is akin to writing.
No New Books™️ Challenge
Hahahahahahahahahahaha. As indicated above, Saturday was a feast day and oh boy did I indulge. Once again, I regret nothing.
May is also going to be bad - there are a number of special editions I have my eye on that will go up for sale. Not to use my depression as an excuse for everything but…I’m going to use my depression as an excuse to buy more books 😇. It is quite literally store bought serotonin! Which is obviously what my brain needs, right? Right.

Mug Moment of the Week
I have written about my love of East Fork mugs previously (here and here). I would have lived the rest of my life in contentment with my 1 (one) mug that my brother got me for Christmas. But then Instagram started marketing their pottery to me, and that is how I discovered their new spring collection.
I mean would you just look at that?!?! Swoon.
So anyways, I needed a mug in that new purple color.

On the left we have new mug with big brother mug, and on the right we have a slightly unhinged selfie of me with mug because East Fork said they’d give me 10% off if I wrote a review and took a selfie with said mug. And who am I to resist?
They have a new Matisse collection that just launched, so if you’re in the mood for handmade pottery wares, have a gander.2
That’s all from me this week. I’ll still be keeping a low profile while I wait for the meds to fully kick in, but I shall be back in working order soon.
That mug will make a future appearance here don’t you worry.
The founder of East Fork is the great-grandson of Henri Matisse. The more you know.
